Shipping Policy
How bottles leave the building
Orders are packed by hand. Each bottle travels standing upright in a molded pulp cradle, one bottle per cell, with the neck supported so the closure cannot work loose in transit. Glass stands on its base rather than leaning on its shoulder, which is why we do not pack bottles shoulder to shoulder or lay a parcel on its side.
Charges and consolidation
Shipping is charged at a flat rate per order and becomes free above the threshold shown in the strip at the top of the site. Because glass is heavy, mixed orders are consolidated into a single parcel wherever the cradle allows; if a second parcel is genuinely needed, we pay for it rather than adding a surcharge.
Transit times
Orders placed before 1pm on a business day are packed the same day. Ground transit is typically two to five business days depending on distance from the shipping origin that the operator supplies; remote ZIP codes and mountain routes take longer. Tracking is emailed as soon as the carrier scans the parcel.
Adult signature
Every delivery requires the signature of a person aged 21 or over, and the carrier may ask for photo identification. Carriers will not deliver to someone who appears intoxicated, will not leave a parcel at the door and will not accept a note as a signature. Three failed attempts return the parcel to us.
Weather holds
Wine and spirits dislike heat and hard frost. During a severe heatwave or a deep freeze we may hold a parcel at no charge and ship when the forecast improves. You can also ask us to hold an order before it leaves the building.
Addresses we cannot serve
We ship within the United States only, to a physical street address where an adult can sign. Destination-state limits are set out on the shipping restrictions page.
